The GUILHARTE project - Lisbon

The Guilharte project is the production and exhibition of a multidisciplinary program "non stop" during the two weeks in the new facilities of the Society of Education Guilherme Cossoul.
Our mission consists in the attribution of life to space through many cultural events and thus gain recognition and public opinion more as a dynamic center for cultural and creative alternative in Lisbon, as well as to initiate a cycle of cultural activity in the Palácio de Laguares.

The Society of Education Guilherme Cossoul is one of the oldest and most prestigious associations of Lisbon. It was formed in 1885 by 47 amateur musicians and admirers of Guilherme Cossoul. Guilherme Cossoul was a Portuguese composer and cellist of the nineteenth century, who founded the volunteer firefighters in Portugal.
Throughout its history of 124 years, plus an area of strong civic and cultural promotion, always satisfied the needs of educational, artistic and sporting activities of their members and the city of Lisbon.

The Guilherme Cossoul aware of the importance of culture in social and economic development of communities, whose main aim is to create better access to knowledge and culture.
The Society of Education Guilherme Cossoul, institution of public utility, is one of the most prestigious cultural associations of Lisbon, throughout its existence, has played a key role in the affirmation and revitalization of the arts, in particular the contribution to enhancing and enhancement of Portuguese Theatre, forming and bringing out new directors, actors and designers of great importance in this cultural area.
